Coach's Update - July 23rd
We have a new head coach for the 2010-2011 season. Please see the
announcement below:

I
want to announce today a coaching change for the Reynolds swim teams.
Alex Black, Head Coach of the Gateway YWCA Sea Dragons, will be the new
Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams beginning with the
2010-2011 season. I will transition to the position of Assistant Coach
for both RJR teams. Coach Black grew up in Winston-Salem and graduated
from Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville. Alex graduated from
Southern Methodist University in 1999, and has been coaching swimming at
the USA Swimming and High School level since graduating college.
The
following are just some of Coach Black’s accomplishments:
-
9 years High School
head coach with Hillcrest HS, Dallas TX, and Charles Aycock HS,
Goldsboro, NC
-
Director of
Competitive Aquatics, Goldsboro YMCA for 6 years
-
Age Group Coach,
Dallas Mustangs for 3 years
-
NISCA High School
All-American in 100 Breast & 100 Fly
-
Four year letterman
SMU swim team (WAC champions 1997, 1998)
-
Undefeated in
individual events during entire 4 year high school swimming
career (including State Championships)
We
are extremely fortunate to have a coach with Alex’s background agree to
lead our swim programs.
I
will be transitioning to a very active Assistant Coach role for our swim
teams. We plan to have 2 coaches on deck for the majority of our swim
practices this year. This will allow us to develop and tailor our
practices for the varied ability levels on our team. This will be
extremely beneficial for our newer swimmers, while providing improved
coaching for our experienced swimmers. I will continue to maintain our
website, and provide for the infrastructure our team needs.
Overall, this is a huge
step forward for our swimming program. We should have the depth of
coaching and support on deck our team needs, while maintaining the
continuity of our program. Please join me in welcoming Coach Black to
the Reynolds Family!Until then I will see you at the pool!
